Title: AR-15 for sale at Wal-Mart
Post by: sauerofkraut on September 21, 2011, 08:42:42 PM
First time I have ever seen Walmart selling a AR-15 pattern rifle.  It was a remington r-15 in a camo pattern for $995.  First time I have seen a modern military type rifle sold in Wal-mart

I think they have been selling them for about a year now and I think they come with a 20 round mag. I find it kind of funny that they would put an AR in the store when a lot of walmarts are getting rid of the gun sections.

Also I think a lot of Walmarts dont allow CCW or Open carry either.

I've been to several walmarts in open carry states (Nevada, Michigan, Kentucky) and I've never been hassled for carrying... They're not always the best option, but if price is a consideration, walmart is almost always at or near the top of the list.

I know from experience that Walmart gun sections depend on the area that they're in. I've noticed that most Walmarts in shitty high-crime areas don't sell guns or ammo, and the sporting goods section in general is just an isle or two. whereas the one's in more suburban moderate-crime areas sell ammo/paintball/airsoft, but no guns. and the rural ones have the whole 9 yards. guns and everything. honestly, I can't say I blame them for that.

Hello all,RON L here

As Far as Wal-Mart selling the "R" series of AR's,. thats a Policy that Simular to Dicks Sporting goods of not Selling Military or erronouly called "Assault Rifles" , as long as the Rifle is inthat "Sporting" configuration, they assume it's viewed as a Hunting or sporting type of Rifle when a Regular AR or M-4 Configuration is viewed in a bad light? Strupi,d but how they look at it, I have Talked to managers at Dicks about it and I'm sure a Talk to the manager at Wal=-Mart would reveal the same sort of responce if they were Honest enough to tell you?

Wal-marts policy on open carry is that they comply with all local and state laws. Check out opencarrys forums for links and copies of letters and such.

Around here i was told that they only sell guns in 1 of 5 walmarts in the area, Apparently its so they can pick the best area and avoid ghettos
they might be changing their policy. Doesn't matter to me I won't buy a gun at walmart.

I finally saw one at my local Walmart yesterday.  (Yep NOLA, I do shop at Walmart. LOL)

I saw that someone said they had been selling them for about a year but this is the first time I've seen one here.

I told the clerk I thought this was great and asked her when they were going to start stocking AK47's.  She looked at me like I was a potential mass murderer and said she didn't know.  I suspect she was considering turning me in on the see something, say something program.  So added that they make a great hog hunting gun.

Stereotypes really suck.

I finally saw one at my local WM as well. About three days ago actually, they had two.

One of the Walmarts in my hometown has a 16" Bushmaster "Patrol Carbine" for $800.
