We have an elderly (92-Years young) lady who's name is Evelynn and due to the beginning of dementia and other ailments went into a beautiful assisted live facility last month. Everyone in her and her late husbands family were ham operators including Evelynn.
Evelynn up till this January made it to all of my monthly ham radio meetings and up till June was on the weekly club 2-meter net. Her daughter called me a couple of weeks ago and let me know that she has donated all of her and husbands equipment to the club.
One of the clubs elders and myself visited Evelynn's house and checked out the equipment several weeks ago and well to be quite honest the collection was mind boggling. It ranged from late 1940's equipment up to modern day solid state gear. As a matter of fact the club member who went with me to her house pointed at a radio that he claimed was on a submarine he was being transported in when he was a "frogman" (Precursor to SEAL's) over in Vietnam.
Next Saturday (8/23/2025) volunteers from the club are going to meet at Evelynn's house and move everything out; inventory the good stuff, throw out the junk (Boat Anchors), and put a price on all the gear. Some gear will just be pick it up and it is yours or pay the postage and it is yours. Some of the things like unopened Heath Kit's from the 70's and maybe 80's along with solid state equipment will be sold at a very reasonable price.
So there you go. I will be posting the inventory here in case any UP subscriber may want any of the equipment.
As a side note, even if you do not have your amateur radio ticket (License) and want to listen to the weekly ERIN nets or other hams talking with hams around the world, this might be a good purchase for when the SHTF.
Stay tuned...
